Kenneth Perez thinks it is a shame that Leo Sauer does not get a chance in the starting line-up at Feyenoord. The analyst of ESPN Given the personnel problems at the Rotterdam team, the eighteen-year-old Slovak, whom he calls a great talent, would have liked to see in the interim round of the Europa League against AS Roma.

Feyenoord starts with Igor Paixão and Yankuba Minteh on the wings. Alireza Jahanbakhsh was actually going to play, but the Iranian pulled out at the last minute. “I would have liked to see Leo Sauer,” Perez said.

“I read that there were sick people and stuff. I thought: Now Leo Sauer may come into the picture. It's a bit of a puzzle on the sides, no one has really conquered their place.”

Sauer has been making minutes as a substitute at Feyenoord this season, but has not played since January 14. Still, Perez believes the winger has potential. “This boy could charm me when he participated. He is not the most flamboyant left winger, but he did quite logical things. He is not going to shoot without a chance, then he will just give it up.”

Jan Joost van Gangelen wants to know why Perez does not find Sauer flamboyant. “He is not as flamboyant as Paixão, for example,” the Dane responds. “If he has it on his hips, it looks samba-like.”

Marciano Vink points out that Slot must also take Luka Ivanusec into account, who is on the bench on Thursday evening. “If you give Sauer minutes, you send a signal to Ivanusec, because they still have them,” said Vink. “Slot has already sent a signal to this with Bart Nieuwkoop as right winger,” says Perez. “I don't think that's an item.”

Slot has often stated that Sauer can only be deployed on the left. “Paixão has also often played on the right, while Sauer could have played on the left,” Perez argues.
