Go Ahead Eagles booked their first victory in the Kitchen Champion Division on Saturday since September 11. Three games in a week determine the atmosphere for the autumn in Deventer and Kees van Wonderen’s team got off to a good start with a 0-2 win at MVV. GA Eagles now awaits two home matches: on October 13 and 17, De Graafschap and FC Eindhoven respectively will visit De Adelaarshorst.

Van Wonderen made four changes to his starting team, which made a far from strong impression last week in the 2-3 defeat against Jong FC Utrecht: Frank Ross, Maël Corboz, Jeroen Veldmate and Julliani Firstling appeared at the starting signal. After less than half an hour of play, the Deventer visitors took the lead. A bet by Sam Hendriks was blocked, after which Jay Idzes headed in the 0-1 from a cross by Bas Kuipers.

GA Eagles came to 0-2 ten minutes before half time and again it was a header goal. Sam Beukema nodded a lovely free kick from Corboz into the goal. MVV tried to push in the second half, but the home team was not really dangerous. Only twenty minutes before the end MVV had a view of the 1-2 when Jay Gorter made a handsome save on a dangerous bet by Joeri Schroijen.

In the final phase, the 0-3 of the visitors was in the air. Both Ross and Sam Hendriks found Bill Lathouwers on his way. GA Eagles is currently tenth with eight points from six games. MVV, which has the same number of points but has played one game more, can revanch itself at Excelsior next Friday.
