The chances are increasing that Kylian Mbappé will not sign a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain, it reports L’Équipe. Technical director Leonardo said two weeks ago that the contract soap would be resolved ‘soon’, but there is nothing to indicate this, according to the newspaper. For now, Mbappé’s gigantic salary demands are too much for the French superpower.

PSG is in a hurry to renew Mbappé’s contract, which expires in mid-2022. If an agreement is not reached in the short term, this summer will be the last good chance for the club to receive a high transfer fee for the 22-year-old attacker. PSG is reportedly betting on an amount of no less than 200 million euros. The Parisians hope to have clarity about Mbappé’s situation before the club is likely to start the quarter-finals of the Champions League in early April.

The Athletic adds to the reports that Mbappé is demanding a sloppy 700,000 euros a week, more than 36 million euros a year. That is more than double than the 39-time French international currently earns (17.5 million euros per year). Real Madrid seems to be the club most interested in recruiting Mbappé, should it come to PSG with a break. Manchester City is also mentioned, but the English would prefer Erling Braut Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, it was written on Thursday by The Athletic. The latter’s salary requirements would be a lot lower than that of Haaland.

It was previously announced that Neymar, PSG’s other star player, is planning to extend his contract that expires in mid-2022. The French superpower reports on Tuesday that the 29-year-old attacker must miss the return against Barcelona next Wednesday. Neymar is too bothered by the muscle injury he sustained in the cup match with Caen at the beginning of February. The Brazilian also had to miss the first game against his former club Barça, which PSG won 1-4.
