The Twente derby between Heracles Almelo and FC Twente did not yield a winner on Saturday evening. The encounter in Erve Asito ended in 2-2 and both teams in the ranking are relatively unsuccessful. It is the first time in history that FC Twente does not win in four consecutive matches with Heracles: two draws, two defeats. The Almeloans in turn missed the opportunity to win three times in a row against the Tukkers in the Eredivisie for the first time in history, despite taking the lead twice.

It was a poor first half in Almelo on both sides. The teams of Frank Wormuth, who have a four-leaf clover before kick-off ESPN-reporter Hélène Hendriks, and Ron Jans were dealing in ball loss and besides, hardly anything happened for both goals, even though the first thirteen minutes were still somewhat promising. After all, Heracles, which mainly lurked for the switch in the first half, only needed six minutes to take the lead. A corner by Rai Vloet was badly defended by FC Twente and in the end Joël Drommel was surprised by a shot from Ismail Azzouzi.

Extra sour for FC Twente: it seemed to be a Heracles player who worked the ball over the back line himself, but nevertheless the home team got a corner. FC Twente, which had the most ball possession in the first half, was only seven minutes behind. A free kick by Luciano Narsingh was badly cleared by Giacomo Quagliata. The ball then fell right in front of Queensy Menig, who immediately lashed out: 1-1.

The second half had barely started when Heracles was back in the lead. After dramatically defending Kik Pierie, Vloet took the ball on his foot and scored his tenth goal of the season: 2-1. Just like in the first half, a quick answer from FC Twente followed, but this time after just two minutes. After preparatory work by Menig and Narsingh, Danilo sent the ball into the top corner with a lot of feeling and thus made his thirteenth goal of the season: 2-2.

Heracles took slightly more initiative after the break than in the first half, but that did not result in any more goals. Attempts by Kasper Lunding and Delano Burgzorg just went down the wrong side of the post. FC Twente took the initiative in the final phase, but was ultimately too sloppy in passing to become really dangerous. Jans’ team remains seventh, but can be overtaken by FC Utrecht on Sunday. Heracles can be found in eleventh place.
