Lucas Digne continues his career at Aston Villa, the club announces through its official channels. According to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, Everton’s left back costs the Villans 27 million euros and he signs for four and a half years in Birmingham. Chelsea were also interested in Digne, but a concrete offer from West London was not forthcoming. The full-back from France is the second winter signing of manager Steven Gerrard after Philippe Coutinho, who was hired from Barcelona.

The departure of Digne, who was also mentioned at Newcastle United, had been in the air for some time. The left-back hadn’t been used for some time by manager Rafael Benítez, who recently complained at a press conference about the left-footed fullback’s wish to leave. “It is very clear.
