Lisandro Martínez will not play for Argentina during this international match. The Manchester Evening News reports on Wednesday that the 24-year-old defender has visa problems, which prevent him from traveling to the United States. The American embassy in England was closed due to the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

In the United States, Argentina will prepare for the World Cup in Qatar this week. However, to fly from England to America, a special visa is required. Because of the Queen’s funeral, Martínez was not able to request it in time, so he will not join the Argentine selection. As a result, he misses the games against Honduras (September 24) and Jamaica (September 28).

Martínez already made his debut for Argentina in March 2019, but only has seven caps to his name. Where the left leg in a club has always managed to grow into a fixed value in recent years, it worked with La Albiceleste not yet. Ex-Feyenoord player Marcos Senesi also has to miss the games against Honduras and Jamaica: the Bournemouth defender has not been called up by national coach Lionel Scaloni.

In addition to Martínez, Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero is struggling with the same visa problems. The Tottenham substitute has been active for Argentina in eleven international matches so far. It could well be that this Premier League duo in Qatar is the central duo. It is therefore extra sour for Scaloni that he will not be able to have Martínez and Romero in the coming international matches.
