Bayern Munich had a carefree evening visiting Greuther Fürth on Friday evening. Julian Nagelsmann’s team played almost a full half with one player less, but never ran into problems: 1-3. Despite the win, Robert Lewandowski will get on the bus with a bitter feeling, as the Bayern striker saw his long scoring streak come to an end. Lewandowski, who had scored nineteen games in a row until Friday evening, thought to tap in a ball in the second half, but the ball was hit by a defender: an own goal.

At Greuther Fürth, two Dutchmen started with Nick Viergever and Jetro Willems, while Alphonso Davies moved from left back to the left side of the attack at Bayern. Only had ten minutes of the Rekordmeister needed to score the opening goal. A half-repulsed low pass from Davies landed at the feet of Thomas Müller, who calmly pushed the ball in with the left: 1-0. Bayern doubled the lead after half an hour via Joshua Kimmich, who controlled the ball from eighteen meters with the inside foot inside: 2-0.

In the first half, Bayern had great opportunities for more. Stefan Maierhofer was able to prevent Müller from tapping the ball from close range on behalf of Fürth, while Lewandowski hit the bar from a volley. Benjamin Pavard was sent off the field just after half-time and put Bayern in the number. The right-back received that penalty for a hard tackle from behind on Jeremy Dudziak’s foot.

Bayern also proved stronger with one man less and the 0-3 fell in the 68th minute. Lewandowski thought to tap in a free kick from Kimmich, but the ball was eventually shot into his own goal by Sebastian Griesbeck: 0-3. Greuther Fürth did something back two minutes before the end via Cedric Itten, who nodded in a cross from the right of Timothy Tillman: 1-3.
