Jeremie Frimpong has handed over his business card to national coach Ronald Koeman. The Amsterdam right midfielder shot Bayer Leverkusen ahead in the duel with RB Leipzig. In the second half, he also provided an assist, with which he made a major contribution to the 3-2 victory. At the same time, (former) Ajax target Hiroki Ito showed himself at VfB Stuttgart with a nice assist on a former target of the team from Amsterdam, Serhou Guirassy. It led to a 5-0 win over VfL Bochum. At VfL Wolfsburg, Václav Cerný was immediately important with half an assist and a front assist. Die Wolfe defeated PhD candidate 1. FC Heidenheim 2-0.

Bayer Leverkusen – RB Leipzig 3-2
Leverkusen had an excellent first half. The team of trainer Xabi Alonso put a lot of pressure, so that Leipzig barely had time to attack. Lukás Hrádecký did have to stretch after a nice shot from Benjamin Henrichs. However, Leverkusen continued to dominate and that led to the deserved lead. The high pressure of the Werkself led to a loss of possession in midfield, after which Granit Xhaka had a nice ball in the house on Victor Boniface. The Nigerian kept a cool head and reached Frimpong, who slid in just in front of the goal: 1-0. It got even better for Leverkusen, when Tah headed in from a corner kick by Jonas Hofmann: 2-0. However, the home team was unable to hold on to the margin of two before the break. Olmo headed in the tying goal from a corner kick, partly thanks to poor performance by Hrádecký: 2-1.

After the break, Leverkusen cheerfully continued to attack. Florian Wirtz thought he would score from about three meters from goal, were it not for former Heraclied Janis Blaswich who made an excellent save. Loïs Openda barely came into play in the first half, but after an hour of play he was able to use his speed from a counter. The Belgian delivered the ball on a silver platter to Timo Werner, who took it so badly that the great opportunity went up in smoke. It was a hit from the next counter, but for Leverkusen. Frimpong had left on the right and put it back on Wirtz, whose mediocre shot flew in via the underside of the crossbar: 3-1.

Openda made it 3-2 with a fine header from a rehearsed free kick, but then missed a huge chance at 3-3. Olmo wanted to reach Yussuf Poulsen, but that was prevented by a sliding by Frimpong. Openda got the ball at his feet and should have scored from a meter or two in front of the empty goal. The striker looked for the ball, turned and shot against the post. Frimpong had to be taken aside moments later with an injury, after which Leipzig pressed on. Poulsen in particular became menacing. However, an equalizer was no longer achieved. Xavi Simons participated for more than an hour at Leipzig.

VfB Stuttgart – VfL Bochum 5-0
On the side of Bochum, trainer Thomas Letsch had his purchase Maximilian Wittek appear right at the kick-off. Stuttgart took the lead after just under twenty minutes. Ito had some space in midfield, steamed up and had an excellent through ball to Guirassy. The striker from Guinea then neatly rounded off with a hard shot: 1-0. The 2-0 came in minute 38. Chris Führich placed his corner kick at the near post, where Dan-Axel Zagadou headed in: 2-0. After the break, Stuttgart continued where it left off. Führich this time put the ball at the far post, where Silas stormed to shoot in: 3-0: The Congolese was found again at the far post a little later, this time on a pass from Pascal Stenzel: 4-0. The latter was also responsible for the assist on Guirassy: 5-0.

VfL Wolfsburg – 1. FC Heidenheim 2-0
Václav Cerný was allowed to start right from the kick-off in his first Bundesliga game. The Czech, who came over from FC Twente this summer, was immediately important with the opening goal. The right winger brought the ball sharply in front of the goal and Kevin Müller didn’t have a good answer to that. The Heidenheim goalkeeper could only get a hand against Cerný’s cross, after which Jonas Wind had the 1-0 for the tap. At the 2-0 just before the half hour, Cerný was important again. With a smart pass between the lines, he sped up the game in such a way that Mattias Svanberg could reach Wind in one go. The latter again finished well. After more than an hour of play, PSV target Aster Vranckx was allowed to fill in for the million-dollar purchase of Lovro Majer. There would be no more scoring.
