Barcelona’s line-up for the season opener against Rayo Vallecano has been announced. Trainer Xavi has chosen to keep Frenkie de Jong and Memphis Depay on the bench for the season overture and also does not have all his new acquisitions at his disposal. It seems that Barca failed to register them all in time.

In recent weeks, the Camp Nou has been dominated by creating financial space. In this way, the new signings, of which Robert Lewandowski is the most important, could be registered for LaLiga. Time was running out, but it seems that the club has managed to get the majority signed up. Jules Koundé is the only ‘unregistered’ player missing from the match selection.

For the Dutch football followers, the setup that Xavi has come up with is a disappointing one. De Jong and Depay have to settle for a place on the reserve bench and see that others take their place in the base. In midfield there are starting spots for Busquets, Pedri and Gavi, while the vanguard is formed by Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Ousmane Dembélé. The last three also had to be registered, but that was successful.

The meeting between Barcelona and Rayo Vallecano will start at 9pm at Camp Nou. Real Madrid will only open the competition on Sunday evening with an away game at the newly promoted Almeria.
