A second meeting between the KNVB and Frank de Boer is scheduled for Monday. Pieter Zwart, journalist of Football International, tells in the weekly magazine’s live show that last week there was an initial positive football conversation and that both parties are now entering the ‘procedures’. It seems that De Boer is for the time being the only candidate to become national coach of the Dutch national team.

According to Zwart, the KNVB did gather more information from other trainers, but they felt that this was mainly to be able to say afterwards that they had been polled. The Telegraph Reported last week that the conversation with De Boer had ‘speeded up’ and that the KNVB was planning to present the clubless practice master already before the next international period with games against Mexico, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Italy.

This is in line with the reporting of Football Internationalwhich states that next Monday there will be another meeting between De Boer and the KNVB. The first meeting, which was mainly about football, was positive, but was still ‘without fiduciaries’. Now De Boer and the KNVB are going into the ‘procedures’, which makes it look like the former training master of Ajax, Internazionale, Crystal Palace and Atlanta United will soon be appointed as the successor of Ronald Koeman, who left for Barcelona.

De Boer said Sunday to be honoured to be called, but gave at FOX Sports that he hadn’t been approached yet. “If you see all those names passing by, whether it’s Frank Rijkaard or Peter Bosz, I’m glad I’m in that line too. A dream job? Well, I’d be honored if you could be the national coach of this country. Besides prime minister, it is perhaps the most important job in the Netherlands”, said De Boer.

“Of course he still knows a lot of those guys from his time at Ajax and he’s accomplished a lot,” reacts the same at Football International present Arthur Numan on the news. “Of course, he hasn’t been very successful in the last two years, but in that period at Ajax, he did well. For me he is the ideal successor of Koeman.”
