National coach Frank de Boer has announced his final selection of the Dutch national team for the coming international match period. The national coach brings Ajax goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg back to the selection after an absence of almost three and a half years. Jeremiah St. Juste, who joins the the Dutch selection for the first time, has also survived the pre-selection.

As the third goalkeeper, Stekelenburg is preferred to Marco Bizot from AZ and Joël Drommel from FC Twente. It is remarkable that Quincy Promes from Spartak Moscow has dropped out of the pre-selection. Besides the long-term injured Virgil van Dijk, De Boer also has to miss Stefan de Vrij. The center defender of Internazionale is infected with the corona virus and has to miss the international period.

Luuk de Jong (Sevilla) retains the preference over Wout Weghorst (VfL Wolfsburg), who has dropped out. Kevin Strootman (Genoa CFC) and Tonny Vilhena (FC Krasnodar) also did not survive the selection. Ryan Gravenberch was also in the selection during the previous international period and has been invited again. The Ajax player has not yet made his debut.

The the Dutch squad will play its first three games at the end of March as part of the World Cup qualification for the final tournament in 2022 in Qatar. The Netherlands will visit Turkey on 24 March. Six years ago, both countries met each other for the last time in the context of the European Championship qualification, when it became 1-1 in Amsterdam and the the Dutch lost 3-0 in Konya. The Netherlands will also play at home against Latvia on March 27 and will visit Gibraltar for the first time in history on March 30.
