Chelsea suffered another defeat in the Premier League on Thursday evening. On a visit to Fulham, the disappointing number ten of the Premier League lost 2-1. Willian opened the score, after which Kalidou Koulibaly scored the equalizer. Thanks to a goal from former PSV player Carlos Vinícius, Fulham still took the lead. João Félix, who made his debut for Chelsea, received a red card after less than an hour of play.

The visitors have been plagued by injuries this season. Edouard Mendy, Christian Pulisic and Raheem Sterling, among others, therefore had to pass up the duel with Fulham. Partly because of this, there was a place in the starting eleven for Félix, who was rented from Atlético Madrid. Hakim Ziyech, who was in the starting line-up for the past two games, had to settle for a place on the bench. On the Fulham side, Kenny Tete started at right back.

After Lewis Hall failed to give Chelsea the lead early in the game by firing the ball straight at goalkeeper Bernd Leno, Fulham had several chances. Vinícius shot wide, Bobby Decordova-Reid hit the crossbar, but via Willian it was hit after 25 minutes. The former Chelsea player turned in and scored through Trevoh Chalobah: 1-0. In the following phase, it was Chelsea who had several opportunities to score, but attempts by Félix and Hall were all stopped by Leno.

It was a hit early in the second half the Blues. A free kick from Mason Mount hit the post, but Koulibaly hit the rebound. However, the joy at Chelsea did not last long, because ten minutes later the team had to continue with ten men. Félix did not take the ball well and Tete took over, after which the Portuguese made a tough tackle: red card. Fulham smelled blood and took the lead again in the 73rd minute, when Vinícius managed to head in a cross from Andreas Pereira. After that, Chelsea was no longer able to force an equalizer again, so it only managed to win one of the last eight official matches.
