Florian Grillitsch is happy with his transfer-free transfer to Ajax. The 27-year-old midfielder, who was officially presented by the team from Amsterdam on Thursday, expects that he will fit in well with Ajax. “Ajax is the perfect match for me. With the philosophy and the way they want to play football.”

His transfer to Ajax also means a reunion for Grillitsch with trainer Alfred Schreuder. “He was my trainer at Hoffenheim, so we know each other well,” he says in a first interview with Ajax TV. “That also applies to assistant coach Matthias Kaltenbach. They know how I am put together. I’m glad to see some familiar faces. But I don’t want to talk too much and mainly play football.”

Last week it was announced that Feyenoord would like to see Grillitsch come. However, the team from Rotterdam did not come to an agreement with the midfielder, after which he decided to sign a one-year contract in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. “Ajax is the perfect match for me. With the philosophy and the way they want to play football, we will be a good fit. I am a calm player who likes to find the football solution. I am better in possession than when I lose the ball.”

Grillitsch is looking forward to the moment when he can make his first minutes for Ajax. “I’ve only heard good things about the Eredivisie. As Ajax you always have to win, maybe it’s a bit similar to Bayern Munich. That’s what I want, to win every game. I want to win prizes and that’s why I came to Ajax I can finally play in the Champions League again.”
