Sven Botman, Cody Gakpo, Matthijs de Ligt, Joey Veerman and Bart Verbruggen left the training camp of the Dutch national team on Thursday morning, the KNVB reports via the official channels. The five internationals are struggling with a virus infection. Ronald Koeman calls on Ryan Gravenberch, Kjell Scherpen and Stefan de Vrij as replacements.
Gravenberch and Scherpen were called up by Erwin van de Looi for the Dutch Juniors and are now with that team at a training camp in Spain. Gravenberch, Scherpen and De Vrij will join Koeman’s selection in Paris. The European Championship qualifying match with France is scheduled for Friday evening in Saint-Denis. The KNVB reports that ‘the composition of the selection will be reviewed after the match against France’.
