Mohamed Ihattaren has received dispensation for a possible switch to Ajax, reporters Valentijn Driessen and Mike Verweij reported in the podcast on Friday. Kick-Off. The midfielder can switch from Juventus to Ajax in the final days of the winter transfer window, despite already being registered with three clubs this season.

FIFA rules state that a player may be registered with up to three different clubs between July 1 and June 30 of the following year. During that period, they are allowed to play matches for a maximum of two clubs. “In addition to his weight and the transfer fee for Juventus, there was another problem: that he was initially not eligible to play,” Verweij says in the podcast of The Telegraph. “As a player you can play for three clubs in a season,” adds Driessen.

Ihattaren was under contract with PSV at the start of the season. On the last day of the summer transfer window, he was sold to Juventus, who loaned Ihattaren to Sampdoria. He was already under contract with three clubs. “Then you cannot go to a fourth club now, halfway through the season. Dispensation has been requested for that, because he only overnight was under contract with Juventus. He got a dispensation for that. Ajax is now on the fence, but radio silence has reigned all week. If it doesn’t work out, he could still go to FC Utrecht,” says Driessen.

On Monday, journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Ajax fully agrees with Juventus on a rental period with an option to buy. The final step to complete the transition is to discuss some final personal terms for the 19-year-old attacking midfielder, Romano reported. The question now is whether it concerns a rental period of six months or one and a half years. Juventus had previously agreed ‘in outline’ with FC Utrecht about a rental period. Due to ‘financial issues’ between Ihattaren and Juventus, the rental transfer to Utrecht could not yet be completed, wrote The Telegraph.
