Dylano K., the twenty-year-old man from Roermond who attacked goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic from behind in the return match between PSV and Sevilla (2-0), was sentenced to three months in prison on Wednesday, one month of which was suspended. He was also banned from the area around the PSV stadium for two years.

The prosecutor had demanded the same sentence. “You enter the field with a drunken head, heavily under the influence”, the police judge started against K. “It is completely disrespectful to the player, the football club and the real supporters of PSV. You call yourself a football fan, but this has nothing to do with football.” The police judge called it ‘significantly at a disadvantage’ that K. had already been convicted of football-related violence.

In 2021 and 2022, K. already received community service twice for violations around football matches. K. did not want to tell the judge how he managed to enter the PSV stadium against Sevilla. K. has little recollection of the evening in question. “I went on the field. It all went super fast. Before I knew it I was lying on the ground and was taken away by the security guards.” K. had a blood alcohol level of over 1.6 when he was arrested: with an alcohol level of more than 0.5 you are no longer allowed to drive. For novice drivers this is 0.2.

“I think I found it a bit tough. Which it isn’t at all. I don’t know what possessed me. I am very sorry.” K. can’t remember the punch on Dmitrovic. K. was fired from his job and kicked out of the PSV supporters group. After the duel in Eindhoven, Dmitrovic received a package of flowers and a card from the Supporters Association PSV with an apology. The goalkeeper of Sevilla accepted it and thanked the PSV supporters with nice words. “One person cannot harm a club as important and respected as PSV and a city (Eindhoven, ed.) That will forever be special to Sevilla supporters.” The goalie concluded with a word of thanks in Dutch: “Thank you very much!”
