Feyenoord is interested in Orbelín Pineda from Celta de Vigo, reports the Mexican TUDN† Pineda is still under contract with Celta until 2027, but is no longer needed in Spain. The 26-year-old midfielder has played 45 caps for the Mexico national team so far.

To increase that number of international matches and to stay in sight of national coach Gerardo Martino, Pineda would like to leave Spain. The midfielder hopes to go to the World Cup with Mexico in November. Celta will travel to Mexico this week for a training camp, but Pineda will stay behind in Spain to work on a transfer.

Since his transfer-free move to LaLiga in January, Pineda has played just 93 minutes in 7 substitutions for Celta. Before that he played in the Mexican League successively with Querétaro, Chivas and Cruz Azul. The right-footed Mexican can play in all positions in midfield. He can also be used as a winger.

If Feyenoord actually wants to incorporate Pineda, the Rotterdammers will have to trump clubs from several countries. Pineda shines according to TUDN have many options. He does not want to return to Mexico. AEK Athens, Standard Liège and Rayo Vallecano would also be interested in the Mexican, who still has a contract in Spain until mid-2027.
