Marino Pusic will remain as Feyenoord’s assistant coach until mid-2025. The 51-year-old Bosnian, who is known in De Kuip as the right-hand man of Arne Slot, has therefore been detained for just as long as the head coach. Pusic has been an assistant at the Rotterdam club since the summer of 2021, which also employs John de Wolf and Sipke Hulshoff for that position. Last summer, Pusic was coveted by Fortuna Sittard for a role as head coach.

Via the club website, the assistant says that he is happy with his contract extension. “I feel very much at home at Feyenoord. Every day I step onto the field with pleasure and the cooperation with the players and the rest of the staff is incredibly pleasant. I see the fact that the club also wants to continue with me as confirmation for the road we have all taken together. I would like to be part of that for longer and build on even more success.” The technical staff of Feyenoord, which also includes goalkeeper coach Khalid Benlahsen, forms a close-knit group.

Feyenoord is therefore performing great under the leadership of the current technical staff. In the 88 official matches that the team from Rotterdam played under the staff nominated by Slot, the club achieved an average of 2.10 points per match. 55 duels were won, twenty times ended in a draw and only thirteen games were lost. The highlight so far was the last European season, in which Feyenoord reached a European final for the first time in twenty years. However, the final of the Conference League against AS Roma was lost 1-0.

The team from Rotterdam are also doing an excellent job this season. For the first time in club history, Feyenoord is the leader in March, semi-finalist in the TOTO KNVB Cup and still active in Europe. According to many, waiting for the Stadium club now ‘the week of truth’. On Thursday evening Feyenoord will play the return of the diptych against Shakhtar Donetsk (1-1) in the Europa League at 6.45 pm, after which the Classic against Ajax awaits on Sunday at 2.30 pm in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Feyenoord will play against the archrival again next month on April 5 in the cup, but then in their own Kuip.
