Feyenoord cannot rely on Oussama Idrissi after the international match period. The Moroccan left winger received his fifth yellow card of this season against Ajax last Sunday. That means that Idrissi has to miss the duel with Sparta Rotterdam due to a suspension.

Idrissi escaped according to ESPNanalysts Marciano Vink and Karim El Ahmadi even to a direct red card in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. The 27-year-old wing flash stood on Owen Wijndal’s Achilles heel after 25 minutes. Referee Danny Makkelie paused with his decision, but then drew a yellow card.

At halftime, the analysts looked back at the images and came to the same conclusion. “These are ankle straps that stretch or tear. You can see it in the delay… Ai!” exclaimed Vink. “I think this is just red. It is not a willful offense,” added El Ahmadi. Vink also did not think there was any intention. “He wants to put his foot down and Wijndal tries to protect the ball, which gives you a contact moment. It looks very ugly.”

Idrissi played 28 times for Feyenoord this season. He scored five goals and provided the same number of assists in all competitions. The mercenary from Sevilla missed nine matches due to a hamstring injury. The team from Rotterdam is proudly at the top of the Eredivisie. Last Sunday, arch-rival Ajax was defeated 2-3 in a direct showdown and the gap with the reigning champion increased to six points.
