Feyenoord is investigating the possibility of bringing Tahith Chong to De Kuip, reports 1908.nl† The 22-year-old right winger has not been in Manchester United’s plans for years and seems to be preparing for a definitive departure. Feyenoord will soon speak with Chong, who will have to pay a transfer fee in view of the contract expiring in mid-2023. Feyenoord has been looking for a new wing striker since the departure of Arsenal mercenary Reiss Nelson.

Chong is a child of Feyenoord, but did not wait for his breakthrough in the first team. The left-footed attacker left for Manchester United in 2016 at the age of sixteen, for which he has made sixteen official appearances since his debut in early 2019. The wing striker was frequently rented out in recent years, but was also unable to break much at a lower level.

In the past football year, Chong played for Birmingham City, which narrowly maintained itself in 20th place. The six-time Jong Oranje-international struggled with a serious groin injury and therefore missed the necessary matches. When he was fit, Chong usually had a starting spot. His stats: 1 goal and 3 assists in 19 official appearances. In Birmingham, by the way, he was posted at number 10 about as often as as a wing striker.

In the previous season, the Willemstad-born attacker had few successful adventures in Germany and Belgium. For the first half of the football season, Chong was leased to Werder Bremen, who made the temporary move to Club Brugge in January 2021. Chong did not become a regular basic player at the Belgian top club, but was able to raise the championship scale at the end of the season. With five assists and one goal in thirteen games, he also finished his period in Belgium with pretty good statistics.
