Feyenoord will bear part of the costs of away games this season, it announced on Friday. The club will work with a fixed price for the remainder of the 2022/23 season, for both the cup and competition matches. This means that part of the costs that supporters incur are borne by the club. “A gesture of appreciation for the loyalty of the most loyal supporters,” writes Feyenoord.

The gesture seems to stem from the fact that Feyenoord is climbing out of a trough financially. The club states on the website that in the past it has always worked according to the principle that away games should be cost neutral. For the current season, however, this is deviated from. Feyenoord wants to give something back to the supporters who travel after the club everywhere and serve as the twelfth man.

The club emphasizes that this is primarily a pilot. At the end of the season, the new set-up will be evaluated and it will be determined whether the pricing policy can be continued. “The intention is to continue the implemented policy,” it reads. The away game against FC Volendam (November 6) is the first game in which the policy applies. The fixed price includes map, transport, guidance, any facilities and the calamity fund.

The promotion is only intended for the most loyal supporters. Those who have a ticket will be informed of the new price by e-mail. The intention is that the new prize will also be used for the away matches in the tournament for the TOTO KNVB Cup. As far as is known, Feyenoord is the first club in the Netherlands to work with a fixed sales price.
