Feyenoord again failed to beat FC Midtjylland on Thursday. The Rotterdammers looked stronger than the Danes in De Kuip and also scored via Quinten Timber and Dávid Hancko. It turned out not to be enough, as Midtjylland also scored two goals, as a result of which the game ended 2-2 in Denmark, just like last week. It remains very exciting in Group F, where Feyenoord and Midtjylland lead with five points. Lazio and Sturm Graz are on four points and will play each other later in the evening.

Marcos López and Alireza Jahanbakhsh return to the base team of Feyenoord, while Jacob Rasmussen and Javairô Dilrosun were sent to the bench. Santiago Giménez, who did not leave an indelible impression against FC Twente (3-0 win), retained confidence in the striker. The Mexican narrowly missed early in the game after good preparatory work by Sebastian Szymanski, who was posted on the left flank.

FC Midtjylland’s first warning followed after ten minutes, when Gustav Isaksen was set free in front of Justin Bijlow in a lightning-fast counter. The quickly released goalie saved, but a short time later had no answer to an unparalleled shot by Emiliano Martínez, who was devastating from 25 meters: 0-1. Feyenoord immediately looked for the attack and was unlucky that Trauner first hit the post with the left from a corner and headed the rebound straight to goalkeeper Jonas Lössl.

The continued pressure from Feyenoord resulted in a goal after half an hour of play. Szymanski received the ball to the left of Giménez’s goal and kept the overview: a wide ball gave Timber a simple goal: 1-1. In the remainder of the first half, the Danes also showed themselves again: Isaksen tried with a diagonal shot, which Bijlow with the necessary luck and the help of the crossbar turned.

Feyenoord took the lead three minutes after the break. Lutsharel Geertruida extended a corner with a subtle heel ball, after which Dávid Hancko was able to walk in at the far post: 2-1. Feyenoord seemed to have the game in their hands, but Midtjylland surprisingly fought back into the game ten minutes later. Marcus Pedersen lost the header to Erik Sviatchenko, who scored from a free kick by Evander: 2-2.

Feyenoord started a final offensive and came close to a goal via substitute Patrik Wålemark, who shot the post from a difficult angle. Soon after, the Swede failed to bring a wide ball to the free Danilo. Orkun Kökçü tried twice with a threatening shot from a distance, but without success.
