Fenerbahçe is still clear in the Süper Lig after six games. The team of coach Ismael Kartal took a 3-0 lead against Istanbul Basaksehir within twenty minutes and did not relinquish it. In fact, Sebastian Szymanski, who scored a wonderful goal in the first half, set the final score at 4-0 after halftime. Fenerbahçe takes over the top position from Galatasaray, while Basaksehir is only eighteenth.

On the side of Fener Jayden Oosterwolde, Ferdi Kadioglu, Szymanski and Dusan Tadic were all assigned a starting place. Edin Dzeko was the striker on duty, while Irfan Can Kahveci, who scored the winning goal against Alanyaspor (0-1) last weekend, was on the right flank. At Basaksehir, Enschede’s Deniz Türüç was given a starting place, while former Feyenoord player Edgar Ié was missing due to an injury. Up front, Krzysztof Piatek and Dimitrios Pelkas had to provide the goals. Both attackers were taken off after half an hour by dissatisfied trainer Cagdas Atan.

The visitors’ coach also had every reason to be dissatisfied, as Fenerbahçe quickly walked away. Alexander Djiku opened the scoring after just five minutes. From a corner kick by Szymanski, the Ghanaian initially headed in harmlessly, after which he received the ball back at his feet via a defender and wonderfully completed: 1-0. Barely five minutes later it doubled Fener the score. Kahveci brought the ball to Tadic, who then found Dzeko at the near post. The Bosnian seemed to score the goal, but Basaksehir defender Leonardo Duarte turned out to be the unintentional scorer. Szymanski also ended up on the scoreboard. The Pole took advantage of a dramatic pass from Cemali Sertel, crossed the line from about twenty meters and scored beautifully with the inside of his foot: 3-0.

After the break, the home team was able to take things easier, but Kartal’s men still had opportunities. Just after half-time, Dzeko shot just wide and Kahveci shot over. Joshua King and Serdar Aziz, among others, came on and saw Szymanski score his second goal of the evening. Michy Batshuayi, another substitute, took advantage of a wonderful pass from Tadic, headed back at Szymanski and saw the former Feyenoord player score from close range: 4-0. That was it, despite attempts in the final phase by Batshuayi and King. Fener thus remains faultless in the Süper Lig.
