Fenerbahçe took a big step towards qualifying for the group stage of the Europa League on Thursday evening. Austria Wien was defeated in Austria: 0-2. Joshua King and Serdar Dursun accounted for the hits. Next Thursday the job should be done in-house.

Fenerbahçe started with Ferdi Kadioglu in the starting line-up. The Turkish team fired from the starting blocks. King scored the opening goal of the game after eight minutes. The 30-year-old Norwegian was the end station of a quick attack and was able to shoot the ball in: 0-1. The first half ended with a curious moment, when Fenerbahçe’s Altay Bayindir was hit by an object thrown from the stands. Fortunately, the goalkeeper was able to continue.

Ten minutes before the end of the game, Austria Wien had to continue with ten men when Lucas Galvão was sent off with a second yellow card and therefore red. Fenerbahçe made good use of this and in the 89th minute the final score was put on the scoreboard by Dursun: 0-2. The team of trainer Jorge Jesus has thus played in a very favorable starting position, so that the group stage of the Europa League must be definitively secured in-house next Thursday.
