Fenerbahçe has postponed the title party of leader Galatasaray in the Turkish Süper Lig for the time being. The number two won 3-1 at home against Trabzonspor on Thursday evening and is therefore five points behind the list leader and competitor. Fenerbahçe will play twice this season, including against Galatasaray on June 4. The latter club will play three more times and can do very good business on Saturday with a win over Sivasspor. Due to the earthquake in Turkey in February, the schedule has been adjusted and some clubs play more matches than other teams, although Fenerbahçe is still awarded three points due to the loss of a league match.
Particularities:
The home side got off to a strong start and took the lead after just ten minutes. Michy Batshuayi scored beautifully after good preparatory work by Arda Güler. It was not until the 58th minute that Fenerbahçe doubled their lead. Luan Peres anticipated well on a pass into the box on a counter and then shot the ball hard and high into the goal. It also became 3-0 thanks to a hard and striking shot from Enner Valencia with twenty minutes to play, after a nice individual action by the attacker. Ferdi Kadioglu gave away another penalty, which was used by Trézéguet. Furthermore, Fenerbahçe did not let it come, so that the title is still somewhat in it for the superpower from Istanbul.
