The president of FC Zurich, Ancillo Canepa, has said that he finds Feyenoord’s offer for Wilfried Gnonto ‘a ridiculous amount’. The Rotterdammers have submitted an offer of four million euros plus bonuses to the club management, but in an interview with Blick Sports tells Ganepa that Zurich wants at least double for the Italian. “Four million euros is a ridiculous amount. At FC Zurich we don’t have self-service.”

According to 1908.nl Gnonto really wants to go to Feyenoord, which gives the club a good negotiating position. Gnonto still has a contract with Zurich until mid-2023 and the club management is therefore very keen to sell him this summer. The attacker does not want to extend his contract and therefore threatens to leave on a free transfer. The Swiss can still sell Gnonto for millions this summer, especially now that he is in the spotlight at many clubs internationally. PSV, Ajax, TSG Hoffenheim and various Italian clubs, among others, showed interest in the attack leader in addition to Feyenoord.

1908.nl was the first to report in June that Feyenoord had a personal agreement with Gnonto. Then last Monday the news came out that the Rotterdammers had made a first offer – of four million euros plus three million euros in bonuses – with Zurich. According to Canepa, this offer would therefore not be enough to bring Gnonto to Rotterdam. “Four million euros is a ridiculous amount. At FC Zurich we don’t have self-service.”

Eighteen-year-old Gnonto is 1.70 meters tall, but a physically strong attacker. He prefers to play in the striker position, but can also play well as an attacking midfielder. Gnonto went through all the youth teams of Internazionale before moving to FC Zurich. Here the Italian scored 10 goals in 36 games last season. Earlier this month, Gnonto made his debut for Italy in the cracker against Germany. He immediately gave his calling card by preparing the only Italian goal of that match.
