There is a good chance that Anastasios Douvikas is working on his last weeks in the shirt of FC Utrecht. The 23-year-old Greek is currently the top scorer in the Eredivisie with eighteen goals, and that has not gone unnoticed. It General Journal reports on Friday that clubs from both the Netherlands and abroad have informed Utrecht that they are interested in the striker. This makes it very likely that one or more Dutch top clubs are angling for the services of Douvikas.

According to the newspaper, technical director Jordy Zuidam of FC Utrecht receives questions from clubs almost every day about the amount that the Greek should cost. Zuidam wants ‘the main prize’ for Douvikas, who has a contract with the club from the Domstad until mid-2025. If Douvikas becomes the top scorer of the Eredivisie next Sunday, his value will only increase further.

Earlier this month, Douvikas spoke to RTV Utrecht already in for a possible transfer. “I will not make a decision until after this season. I really don’t know if I’m leaving this summer, I mean that. If there isn’t a club I’d like to go to, I might stay. For now, my agent is dealing with that,” said the right leg. “I don’t have a preference for a league, but I would like to play in the Premier League one day. I don’t know if a club from England has already reported to my agent.”

Douvikas came over from Volos NPS in the summer of 2021 for 1.2 million euros. The counter so far stands at thirty goals and seven assists in 72 games for the Domstedelingen. Coming Sunday Douvikas will receive FC Emmen in the Galgenwaard with Utrecht in the last round of the Eredivisie. After that, a diptych with Sparta Rotterdam awaits in the semi-finals of the play-offs for European football.
