Sam Lammers is of concrete interest to FC Twente, as confirmed Football International following earlier reports of CalciomercatoThere is no agreement yet with Rangers FC, where the Tilburg player is under contract until mid-2027.

Lammers had an excellent half year at FC Utrecht last season and so the interest of the Domstedelingen to sign him permanently did not come as a surprise. However, Lammers turned out to be too expensive and so the club switched to Noah Ohio and David Min.

A few days ago, NEC coach Rogier Meijer said that he would very much like to add Lammers to his selection. The club even spoke to the striker, but Meijer said in conversation with The Gelderlander although Lammers' arrival is unlikely.

“I would really like to have Sam, but I don't think he will come to NEC,” the coach said. “We have spoken to him, but he has made a different choice.”

The choice Meijer was referring to now seems most likely to be Twente. The Tukkers will soon play against Red Bull Salzburg in the preliminary round of the Champions League and are eagerly looking for a new striker to compete with Ricky van Wolfswinkel.

VI now confirms that Twente is working hard on the arrival of Lammers. Whether it concerns rent, purchase or rent with option to purchase, is still unclear. These options are currently being discussed with all parties involved.

FC Twente had previously focused on the arrival of Wout Weghorst, who is an outspoken fan of the club. However, the Tukkers have dropped out because Burnley, where the Oranje international is still contracted for another year, is currently asking too much money, according to technical director Arnold Bruggink.
