Fate has struck again for Terence Kongolo. The Fulham defender was on the field for ninety minutes last Friday in the lost home game against Wolverhampton Wanderers (0-1) and that was his first league game of the season. However, according to trainer Scott Parker, he sustained a serious injury from that match.

“He sustained an injury and will not play again this season. It is terrible for Terence. I thought he was playing fantastic on Friday,” said Parker at the press conference prior to Sunday’s away game against Arsenal. It is not known what kind of injury this is. Kongolo’s employment at Craven Cottage continues to be characterized by injuries. He has been playing for the club since January 2020, but made only four official games.

Kongolo was loaned out to Fulham by Huddersfield Town in the second half of the 2019/20 season and soon suffered an ankle injury, leaving him to play only two games on his loan. Fulham was promoted to the Premier League and decided to permanently commit Kongolo for approximately 4.4 million euros, an amount that could amount to 8.1 million euros. He played his first game of the season on January 9, in the FA Cup against Queens Park Rangers.

The 27-year-old Dutchman then participated for 67 minutes, but was then sidelined again for weeks due to problems with the Achilles tendon. After six consecutive games on the bench, he played his first game of the season in the Premier League last Friday. However, that match against Wolverhampton left him with another injury. Kongolo signed a contract with Fulham until mid-2024, with an option for an additional year.
