The return clause in Xavi Simons’ contract is even lower than the aforementioned twelve million euros, transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano says to PSG Report. Where PSV first denied the clause, after which general manager Marcel Brands finally admitted it later, the amount for which Simons can return to Paris Saint-Germain appears to be even lower. The twenty-year-old international of the Dutch national team still has the most important say in the transfer.
If Simons does not see a return to Paris, it will not happen. Still, it seems that Brands has not been honest about the clause in the right leg’s contract. “I tell you this exclusive information that I have: PSG has a buy-back option on Xavi Simons, but it is NOT for €12 million. It’s less than that. A very, very cheap buy-back clause,” said Romano. Simons is fixed in Eindhoven until mid-2027 and can use the clause to return to the Parc des Princes until next summer. This option will therefore run until the summer of 2024.

Meanwhile, Simons, who personally had a great first season at PSV, is also in demand at Arsenal. Reported it in early June Eindhovens Dagblad and Football International that the the Gunners would like to see the Amsterdam dribbler come. Journalist Rik Elfrink thinks that PSV wants to earn at least fifty million euros from Simons’ departure with such a transfer, outside the PSG clause. According to Transfer market he is currently worth about thirty million euros. The midfielder, who trained at Barcelona, scored 22 goals and twelve assists in 48 official matches for PSV this season.
At the end of May it was announced that Simons has switched to real estate agency Doubled, where he is represented by his new agent Darren Dein. The representative is working with PSV on a clause whereby Simons will receive a percentage of his own transfer fee upon his departure from Eindhoven. The twenty-year-old the Dutch customer came over from PSG on a free transfer in the summer of 2022 and has since developed into the club’s star player. PSV would therefore like to offer him a new contract, so that the return clause is no longer valid.
