Branco van den Boomen will undergo his medical examination next week, after which he will sign a contract with Ajax until mid-2027. According to Fabrizio Romano, the tests are planned soon and the midfielder will be presented afterwards. Van den Boomen is said to have turned down four or five other clubs to sign with Ajax.

On Saturday, Romano revealed that Ajax had finalized Van den Boomen and that the Toulouse playmaker will become the first summer acquisition of the 36-time national champion. De Brabander, who previously played in Ajax’s youth academy, comes over on a free transfer and will sign a contract for four seasons in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. The transfer expert now writes that Van den Boomen rejected ‘four or five’ other offers to get started in Amsterdam. He will be medically tested next week.

Attracting Van den Boomen coincides with the approaching departure of Edson Álvarez, Romano expects. Borussia Dortmund is reportedly going to do everything in its power to take over the Mexican controller in the coming days and an early departure is very likely. It was previously written that Ajax can receive an amount of thirty to forty million euros for Álvarez, who was taken over from Club América for fifteen million euros in the summer of 2019.

Van den Boomen does not seem to be a direct successor to Álvarez, as the former midfielder of FC Eindhoven and De Graafschap, among others, has to rely on his passing and overview and Álvarez appeals to his defensive qualities. The arrival of Van den Boomen has, according to the Telegraph everything to do with his figures and data, which show up very positively in the system of technical director Sven Mislintat. The German is very interested in statistics and has already been renamed by the morning newspaper data German.
