Excelsior got one point on Friday evening from his visit to FC Eindhoven. The team from Rotterdam already had ten men in the first half, but thanks to Elias Mar Omarsson managed to take the lead after the break. However, Eindhoven came back through Flor van den Eynden’s equalizer: 1-1.
Excelsior received a red card for the second game in a row. Mats Wieffer was sent off the field three minutes before half-time by referee Erwin Blank, after the midfielder came in too hard on Lorenzo van Kleef. The team from Rotterdam had the better of the game in the first half, but hardly knew how to turn that into big opportunities. The best opportunity was for Reuven Niemijer, who bumped into the foot of Eindhoven goalkeeper Jort Borgmans.

Fifteen minutes after the break, Excelsior surprisingly managed to take the lead. Omarsson had just missed eye to eye with goalkeeper Borgmans, but did finish it in the 63rd minute. The Icelandic attacker cut himself free and shot in the short corner: 0-1. Eindhoven fought back into the match in the final quarter. Van den Eynden reacted alertly to a corner at the far post: 1-1. In injury time the home team could have won, but an attempt by substitute Maarten Peijenburg was taken off the line.
