Excelsior booked its first victory in the Kitchen Champion Division since September 11 on Friday evening. After three defeats in a row and a draw, the team of trainer Marinus Dijkhuizen was 2-0 too strong for MVV and that also meant the first home win. At the same time, FC Volendam also managed to book the first home win of the season. The first three home games yielded only one point, but this time Wim Jonk’s team was clearly a size too big for Young PSV.

Excelsior – MVV 2-0
After an interesting opening phase, there was little more to do in Rotterdam in the remainder of the first half. Mar Omarsson put himself alone in front of the goal in the fourth minute with a nice individual action, but the striker pushed the ball just wide in the short corner. Ten minutes later, Alessandro Damen whipped a shot from Joeri Schroijen from the corner. A nice shooting opportunity from Mitchell van Rooijen went over Bill Lathouwers’ goal a few minutes later and that was also the last ‘highlight’ in the first 45 minutes.

Excelsior took over the game in three minutes. A free kick by Julian Baas in the short was too powerful for Lathouwers, who had to take the leather out of his goal again not much later. After a quick switch from Excelsior, it was Mar Omarsson who shot the ball well into the far corner: 2-0. The remainder of the second half yielded little spectacle, although the 3-0 was more in the air at stages than the 2-1.

FC Volendam – Young PSV 5-1
The first half was not an attractive spectacle. From time to time FC Volendam imposed its will on Young PSV, but was not sharp in the last meters. Young PSV sometimes played along nicely, but was unable to create any opportunities. The promises from Eindhoven did not get out of the dressing room well after the break and soon got the nice opening goal of Francesco Antonucci: 1-0. After more than an hour of play, Boy Deul was the end station of a nice attack by the team of Jonk: 2-0.

In the end it turned out to be a fantastic second half for FC Volendam, which scored three more times. Nick Doodeman gave the ball on a silver platter to Deul, who scored his second goal of the evening. Doodeman was also at the basis of Samuele Mulattieri’s 4-0, who had missed a few chances. After Mathias Kjölö’s goal of honor, it was debutant Giannis Iatroudis who made the 5-1 in injury time.
