Latest update:

Mario Been has doubts about where Yankuba Minteh's ceiling lies. Been currently thinks the Newcastle United loanee is the most dangerous attacker at Feyenoord, but at the same time sees him make many incomprehensible decisions. “I think every left back keeps awake at night because of him, but he sometimes does things…”, the analyst said on Sunday. This was the Weekend.

When looking back on PSV – Feyenoord (2-2), Been would like to zoom in on Minteh. The former trainer of the Rotterdam team understands why people have such doubts about the Gambian teenager.

“He is currently the most dangerous attacker at Feyenoord. However, he is a slow thinker. He always has his head down. But if you saw that assumption…”

Been refers to a moment in minute 57 when Minteh plucks the ball out of the air seemingly effortlessly. However, the young left foot then shoots the ball wildly over the sideline.

“You don't understand that,” Been laughs. “That's why he always remains a big question mark. I think every left back keeps awake at night because he keeps running, he keeps going. But he sometimes does things that make me think: just raise your head.

Van Hooijdonk

Pierre van Hooijdonk has the same opinion. The former striker wants to join NOS Studio Football also had his say about Minteh. “He is very dangerous, but he doesn't know when and we don't know when. He's an accidental footballer, actually.”

Van Hooijdonk doubts to what extent Feyenoord will benefit from Minteh's playing style. “Gimenez hardly gets any balls from Minteh. When Berghuis plays for Ajax, Brobbey knows that he will get some. Minteh is absolutely not reliable for Gimenez. Something happens when he gets the ball, but whether you as a center forward really care makes me happy…”

Apart from his remaining performance, Minteh was good for the 1-1 on Sunday. The right winger thus brought his season total to six league goals. Minteh has also been a declarant three times this year. He needed a total of eighteen games (nine of which were basic appearances) for this.
