Marcel Brands remains loyal to Everton for the time being. The Premier League club will announce on Wednesday afternoon that the Director of Football has signed a new contract until mid-2024. Brands’ old commitment to Goodison Park would expire after this season. The former technical director of AZ and PSV has been working at the Toffees.

It had been in the air for some time that Brands would extend his stay at Everton. “There had been no doubt for a while that Marcel and I were going to sit down to agree on a new contract,” said Chairman Bill Kenwright in a comment on the club site. “With Farhad’s blessing (Moshiri, owner of Everton, ed.), We were very quickly out. Marcel is not only great at his job, he also has an excellent working relationship with Carlo Ancelotti, our CEO Denise Barrett-Baxendale and myself. It was important to maintain the structure and stability that we have put in place over the years. “

“Farhad and I wish our leadership team the best of luck in our mission to build an exciting future for our great club,” added Kenwright. Brands shares the Everton chairman’s optimism. “Everton is a very special football club and a club with clear and exciting ambitions. We are clearly making progress and I think we currently have what it takes to be successful. I am delighted to continue working with such ambitious colleagues on our board of board and executive board. All of this, along with such a talented manager and supportive owner and chairman, puts us in a really strong position for the future. ”

Brands is like Director of Football responsible for the purchasing policy of Everton, the current number eight in the Premier League. The Dutch driver managed to take over James Rodríguez from Real Madrid last summer. Brands also managed to seduce Robin Olsen (AS Roma), Allan (Napoli) and Abdoulaye Doucouré (Watford) to switch to the English sub-topper.
