Lech Poznan reached the quarterfinals of the Conference League on Thursday. After having already won 2-0 at home against opponent Djurgardens IF, the Swedes were also tied to victory on their own soil: 0-3. The European fairytale of trainer John van den Brom will continue for at least one more round.
Particularities:
Thanks to the 2-0 victory in Poland, Van den Brom and his team – who were the first Polish team since 1991 to spend the winter in Europe – had an excellent starting position in Sweden. Marcus Danielson helped them even further in the saddle by taking a red card just before half-time, leaving Djurgardens with ten to continue. Fifteen minutes before the end, Lech Poznan broke the spell. Filip Marchwinki tapped in after a cross from Pedro Rebocho, with which the diptych was played. Nikoloz Kvekveskiri and Michal Skoras lifted the score to 0-3 in the end.
Competition procedure:
77′ Filip Marchwinki (assist: Pedro Rebocho)
90+1′ Nikoloz Kvekveskiri
90+2′ Michal Skoras (Assist: Nikoloz Kvekveskiri)
