Luis Suárez recently saw Juventus drop out as a possible new employer, but with Atlético Madrid, the superfluous striker seemed to have a good option left at Barcelona. Los Colchoneros are now also in danger of becoming the new employer of the Uruguayan, as Barcelona has decided at the last minute, according to reports from Spain.

Among other Mundo Deportivo and ASH report on Tuesday that Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has returned at the eleventh hour to the agreement reached with Suárez on the termination of his contract. The 33-year-old striker can leave the Camp Nou with a lump sum payment of seven million euros and a transfer-free status in his pocket, provided he does not go to one of the clubs on a previously agreed list.

For the time being, Atlético’s name was missing from this list, but according to reports, Bartomeu indicated at the last minute that the Madrid people should also be on the list. The chairman of the Catalan superpower is not comfortable letting Suárez leave for a domestic competitor, which has now put the agreements about his departure in question.

This change from Bartomeu is said to have caused anger at Suárez, who wants to stay in Spain for private reasons. A move to Atlético or a longer stay at Barcelona are therefore the only options for the routine and Suarez would now consider calling a special press conference to make his dissatisfaction public. On Tuesday evening, new talks are reportedly planned between Bartomeu and the Suárez camp.

Now that time is running out and Atlético has already made room with the departure of Álvaro Morata to Juventus, Edinson Cavani threatens to throw a spanner in the works for Suárez. His fellow countryman has long been associated with employment at the Wanda Metropolitano and has been transfer-free since leaving Paris Saint-Germain. Cavani is therefore an attractive option for Atlético, if there is no sooner clarity regarding the status of Suárez.
