Breel Embolo continues to occupy the mind in Germany. The attacker of Borussia Mönchengladbach violated the corona rules last weekend by attending a party in the German city of Essen, at which 23 other persons were also present. Embolo would eventually have been found in a bathtub by the police after his flight, so it is known BILD Thursday.

Embolo denies the story in the German boulevard newspaper, but there is no doubt whatsoever with the police in Essen. A statement reads that the Gladbach attacker was spotted walking on the roof of the cafe where the party in question took place. The Switzerland international then fled into a nearby apartment, where he apparently hid in the bathtub. Embolo was completely alone at that time, or so it sounds from Germany.

According to Embolo, however, there is nothing true about the sensational story and Gladbach does not want to go into detail about the BILD published article. “Until now it is only speculation,” said press officer Markus Aretz in a response to the German newspaper. An indictment has now been filed against Embolo, although the Gladbach player was not fined by the Essen police last weekend. The 23-year-old striker, who tested negative for the corona virus, was kept from the selection by trainer Marco Rose on Tuesday for the duel with Werder Bremen. However, there is a good chance that Embolo will just compete against Borussia Dortmund on Friday.

Bruggink laughs: ‘Fifteen scantily clad women, that seems not to be allowed’

BILD reported earlier this week that Embolo allegedly held an illegal party with “fifteen scantily clad women.” The police were informed by local residents about the illegal party and arrived around midnight at the cafe in question where it took place. At that moment it was still quiet in the cafe and there seemed to be no party. Only when the police returned at 1:30 am the atmosphere turned out to be a lot more exuberant: the music was very loud and alcohol was flowing abundantly. “And the women suddenly wore a lot less clothes,” said BILD. The police then ended the party and handed out 23 fines of 250 euros.

ESPNanalyst Arnold Bruggink had to laugh on Twitter on Monday at the whole situation surrounding Gladbach’s much-discussed attacker. “Embolo celebrated a party with fifteen scantily clad women, that seems not to be allowed”, the former attacker wrote somewhat cynically on Twitter last Monday.
