Carel Eiting will play next season for Huddersfield Town, which has taken him over from Ajax on a rental basis. It seems at first sight a remarkable choice for the 22-year-old midfielder to play in the Championship. Through the official channels of Huddersfield Town, Eiting indicates that he has mainly chosen to make the switch to England in order to develop physically.

“Yeah, it went really fast. But I talked to the manager and everyone at the club, they made me feel really good. Then you don’t have to doubt for too long,” Eiting begins. He spoke extensively with manager Carlos Corberán. “We talked about the style of play, the intentions. That’s the most important thing. I was charmed by his ideas and that gave me a very good feeling.”

“I didn’t know much, so I wasn’t prejudiced. I was curious, also about the Championship and the intensity”, the midfielder continues. He is then asked whether he expects a big difference in intensity between Dutch football and the English Championship. “That’s one of the main reasons I came here. I want to develop myself in that respect and this is the best place.”

“They can expect a player who wants to get the ball forward as quickly as possible. I want to help the team in any way I can,” Eiting introduces himself. At Huddersfield Town, he meets Juninho Bacuna, as he played with the midfielder in the past in the youth teams of the Dutch National Team. “Of course that helps, but everyone at the club was very warm. I think it’s no problem to find my place.”
