Philipp Max will not play in Eintracht Frankfurt’s Conference League campaign this season. That is what assistant coach Stefan Buck tells in conversation with BILD. That decision can be called striking, as the former PSV player has been part of the starting eleven in every game so far this season.

“Max’s recent performances have not been what many hoped for,” Buck explains. Despite the remarkable decision, the assistant coach still has enough confidence in the wing defender. “We are happy that Philipp is with us. We still have so many games in the league and in the cup,” the German assistant coach says.

The left back previously played in the Philips Stadium from the 2020 season. In the winter period of this year, Frankfurt rented the German from PSV. In the remainder of that Bundesliga season, he came into action ten times, eight of which as a basic player. In the summer, the German club took over Max, where the 29-year-old defender also seems to be a permanent fixture in coach Dino Toppmöller’s team this season.

However, due to a lack of form, the technical staff has not made room for him in the selection. Frankfurt will face Aberdeen, HJK Helsinki and PAOK in the Conference League. The German club, which achieved record sales in the summer with the sale of Randal Kolo Muani, is in tenth place in the Bundesliga after three games. It managed to drag in five points by two draws against 1. FC Köln and 1. FSV Mainz and a win over Darmstadt.
