Ed Sheeran is the new shirt sponsor of Ipswich Town, the English club announced through official channels. The men’s and women’s teams of the League One club will get the logo of the English singer’s future tour on the shirt: five mathematical symbols with the word ‘tour’ underneath. Born in Suffolk, Sheeran has been a fan of Ipswich Town all his life.

“The club is important to the local community and this is my way of showing my support. I have always enjoyed my trips to Portman Road and look forward to going back as soon as possible when supporters are welcome in the stadiums again. With the new American owners, good times are coming for Ipswich fans, including me, ”Sheeran said on the Ipswich Town website. The singer is still in the middle of what the logo that will be on the shirt exactly means. “Everything will be revealed in its time.”

Thirty-year-old Sheeran grew up in Suffolk, as the area around Ipswich is called. The English singer has never hidden the fact that he is a fan of Ipswich Town. He concluded the Divide tour in 2019 in Ipswich, where 160,000 people came over 4 evenings and where he performed in an Ipswich Town shirt. The Tractor Boys – Single English Champion – were relegated from the Championship to League One in 2019 and currently occupy ninth place at the third tier.

This season Ipswich Town plays with a charity on the shirt: the Carers Trust. This was chosen after a partnership with Magical Vegas was abandoned because the fans revolted against the collaboration with a gambling company. “We are thrilled to have Ed become our shirt sponsor,” said Marketing Director Rosie Richardson. “I have collaborated with Ed on various initiatives several times in recent years. He has shown his support for his hometown in various ways, this is another good example. ”
