A 25-year-old Dutch professional football player has been arrested by the Spanish traffic police while racing a Lamborghini on the highway. The same happened to two companions who also moved in cars from the top segment. The man also tore a forged driver’s license in the expensive car.

Officers saw the three vehicles speeding past at high speed on the left lane of the toll road near Girona. When the police put them aside, the footballer presented a false Dutch driver’s license. The investigation also showed that the man had never obtained a driver’s license. The Dutchman is accused of dangerous driving, driving without a valid driver’s license and forging a driver’s license.

The professional football player was arrested and released a day later. Spanish newspapers, based on police information, assure that it concerns a Dutchman playing football in the German fourth division at Altona 93 from Hamburg. At that club one Dutchman plays football and that is 25-year-old Aladji Barrie.

Barrie went through FC Emmen’s youth academy and made his debut in professional football 21 minutes before time against Fortuna Sittard (1-1). Those were also his only competition minutes in the Netherlands. A season later he also fell in against Excelsior Maasluis (1-4) as part of the TOTO KNVB Cup. In recent years, he has played for numerous clubs in the lower echelons of German football, apart from a blue Monday at FC Lienden.
