The Dutch futsal team has its three opponents for the group stage of the European Championship Futsal. the Dutch Futsal was linked to reigning European and world champions Portugal on Monday evening at the draw at the KNVB Campus in Zeist, as well as to Ukraine and Belarus/Serbia. The European Championship Futsal starts on January 19, 2022 and takes place in the Ziggo Dome (Amsterdam) and MartiniPlaza (Groningen).

The draw was presented by Soufiane Touzani, who is the tournament ambassador, and ‘street football queen’ Rocky Hehakaija. They received a number of Dutch and European Futsal players and former players in Zeist. In addition to national coach Max Tjaden, captain Oualid Saadouni, Mo Attaibi and Jamal El Ghannouti were also present from the Dutch Futsal. Futsal coach Vic Hermans and former futsal player John de Bever were also present at the draw.

For the first time in history, sixteen countries will compete for the European title in futsal. As the host country, the Dutch Futsal is automatically included and other participating countries are title holders Portugal, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Finland, Georgia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Ukraine. Serbia and Belarus will play against each other between 14 and 17 November for the last ticket for the group stage. The top two teams in the group qualify for the quarter-finals.

Ticket sales for all matches will start one day after the draw on October 19. For the largest European Championship Fustal ever, the two venues, Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam and MartiniPlaza in Groningen, will be completely transformed into ‘futsal walhallas’. Both locations can accommodate 17,500 futsal fans. Tickets are available from ten euros the day after the draw via the official tournament website.
