Internazionale treated AS Roma and José Mourinho to a hopeless defeat in the Serie A on Saturday evening. The final score was already determined before half-time thanks to hits from Hakan Çalhanoglu, Edin Dzeko and Denzel Dumfries: 0-3. For the Dutch wing defender it was his first goal in the shirt of Inter. The victory brings the team of trainer Simone Inzaghi to 37 points and is still one point behind leader AC Milan. AS Roma remains in fifth place with 25 points from 16 matches.

Inzaghi had made a base for Dumfries at Inter, while Rick Karsdorp had to miss the Serie A game on behalf of the visitors due to a suspension. Within fifteen minutes the lead for Inter was a fact, it must be said that the defense of the Romans did not look good. Çalhanoglu turned in a corner in one go, after Nicolò Zaniolo tried unsuccessfully to head away from the near post and Rui Patrício saw the ball go through his legs: 0-1.

I Nerazzurri had the better of the game and managed to double the margin halfway through the first half. After a smooth attack between Joaquín Correa and Alessandro Bastoni, Çalhanoglu was found in the penalty area. The midfielder put the ball wide on Dzeko, who caused his former employer more problems: 0-2.
AS Roma was completely overrun and was allowed to thank Patrício that the damage was limited within half an hour. The goalkeeper had a strong save on a goal by Dzeko and then saw the Bosnian striker head just over.

Mourinho’s disappointing team thought they would get back into the game, but counted outside Dumfries. The defender threw himself for a close-up effort by Matías Viña and thus prevented the connecting goal. The same Dumfries closed the game in the counterattack. Bastoni hurled the ball into the penalty area, after which the defender was able to head the ball hard against the ropes with a pike dive at the far post: 0-3. Supported by the comfortable lead, Inter did not have to hunt for 0-4 after the break, while Roma were unable to bring back the tension in the game. The spectators in the Stadio Olimpico were presented with a sleep-inducing second half.
