Cyriel Dessers is close to a switch to Cremonese, writes Fabrizio Romano, following various Italian media. Where The last news Reporting last week that an initial offer from the Serie A PhD student had been rejected by Racing Genk, the transfer market specialist reports ‘good progress in talks between the clubs’. Dessers recently described Serie A as his dream competition and had been in Italy with his agents a few days before to discuss the deal.

According to The last news a first offer from Cremonese was rejected last week. Shortly afterwards, the first round in the Jupiler Pro League started. Dessers started in the starting line-up at Genk and was immediately accurate during the 3-2 defeat against reigning champions Club Brugge. The three-time Nigerian international appeared in front of the camera afterwards, partly to respond to the Italian interest.

“We’ll see what comes,” Dessers began. “There is some interest. It is all starting to move. I am just as curious as you are about what Genk will say. The Serie A is a top competition and I dream of that. It is all a matter of waiting.” Dessers also discussed a possible return to Feyenoord: “I don’t know if that is still an option. You will have to ask there.”

Dessers made a furore at Feyenoord last season, among other things, with ten goals as the top scorer in the Conference League. In competition, the born Belgian was good for nine hits. The Rotterdammers were willing to meet his transfer fee of four million euros, but did not come to an agreement with the striker about his salary. At the beginning of July, trainer Arne Slot spoke about a changed situation, as Feyenoord had been given much more financial space with the transfer money from Luis Sinisterra (maximum thirty million euros) and Tyrell Malacia (maximum seventeen million). Now the number three of last Eredivisie season seems to have to give up against Cremonese anyway.
