Donny van de Beek is nominated to leave Manchester United in the coming transfer window, you know The Sun. The newspaper writes that the midfielder, together with six teammates, is part of a drastic cull who must ensure that Declan Rice can be taken over from West Ham United. Van de Beek was about to make the switch to Everton this summer, but was then stopped by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

In addition to Van de Beek, the names of Phil Jones, Eric Bailly, Diogo Dalot, Alex Telles, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard are also linked with a departure from United during the upcoming winter transfer window. None of them currently have a permanent place in Solskjaer’s team, giving United a chance to get money in the drawer. Solskjaer is said to be downsizing his squad to raise money for Rice’s transfer. A possible sale of the above players would not immediately weaken the team, it sounds like.

Just like last season, Van de Beek does not have to count on Solskjaer’s confidence for this football season. In the Premier League, the Dutchman has never been in the starting lineup at United. He was allowed to show it from the first minute against Young Boys in the Champions League on Tuesday, but was taken off by the Norwegian coach halfway through. And so there seems to be another season ahead for Van de Beek in which he has to settle for substitutes.

On the last day of the summer transfer window, Van de Beek appeared to be loaned to Everton, but the midfielder saw Solskjaer put a stop to that at the last minute. Van de Beek urged United’s club management to leave, partly due to the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo. United initially seemed to agree to this, until manager Solskjaer described a rental of the shadow striker as ‘unnegotiable’. Van de Beek experiences fierce competition in United’s midfield from Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes.
