Galatasaray treated Besiktas to a defeat in the Turkish Super Lig on Monday evening. Kerem Aktürkoglu put Cim Bom before half time with two goals on a comfortable lead. The connecting goal by Ridvan Yilmaz on behalf of the visitors eventually came too late in the final phase: 2-1. With the win, Galatasaray rises to eleventh place with 38 points from 29 matches, while Besiktas with 45 points remains in eighth place.

Galatasaray, where Patrick van Aanholt started in the base and Ryan Babel on the bench, managed to break the spell halfway through the first half thanks to Aktürkoglu. Mostafa Mohamed struggled past Necip Uysal and Domagoj Vida to put the ball wide on the winger of Galatasaray, who shot hard into the top left corner from close range: 1-0. Using the same recipe, the home team managed to double the margin after more than half an hour.

This time Mohamed stole the ball from left back Umut Meras to find Aktürkoglu with a gossamer cross. Galatasaray’s club top scorer then left goalkeeper Ersin Destanoglu without a chance with a hard header: 2-0. The tension in the match was somewhat reduced in the final phase, when Iñaki Peña let a stopable shot from Yilmaz through his legs. However, Besiktas did not get further than the connecting goal.
