Borussia Dortmund failed to win the league match at VfL Wolfsburg. The visitors still took the lead through Niclas Füllkrug, but saw the home team come alongside in the second half. Leader Bayer Leverkusen made no mistake and won 1-2 against FC Heidenheim, partly thanks to a goal from Jeremie Frimpong. In the meantime, Sepp van den Berg was of great value to FSV Mainz 05.

VfL Wolfsburg – Borussia Dortmund 1-1
Borussia Dortmund is unbeaten in their last eight games in all competitions and continued that run when they visited Wolfsburg. Still, Edin Terzic's team will board the bus back home with a hungover feeling

With Ian Maatsen in the starting line-up and Donyell Malen on the bench, Terzic's team got off to a flying start. After eight minutes of play, Marcel Sabitzer created a great opening, after which, with a bit of luck, the ball ended up at Füllkrug's feet and the German was able to score his sixth goal in the last five league games. Dortmund had opportunities to extend the score, but failed to do so.

After more than an hour of play, it was Wolfsburg that brutally leveled the score. Gregor Kobel initially had a reaction to a corner from Maximilian Arnold, but watched as the ball was brought in again and Yannick Gerhardt was able to head home from close range: 1-1.

FC Heidenheim – Bayer Leverkusen 1-2
Bayer Leverkusen has no European match in midweek, so all focus could be on the away match against FC Heidenheim. Jeremie Frimpong took the kick-off and was responsible for the opening goal just before half time. The fullback pushed Amine Adli's cross against the ropes: 0-1.

Frimpong also showed himself in the second half. Ten minutes after half-time he had the opportunity to double the score, but this time his shot went over the goal. Adli did put himself on the scoreboard ten minutes before the end.

The Moroccan international was served beautifully by Florian Wirtz, rounded the goalkeeper and finished calmly: 0-2. Heidenheim did something back five minutes later with Marvin Pieringer (header), but it was no longer really exciting.

FSV Mainz 05 – FC Augsburg 1-0
Sepp van den Berg was the big man in Mainz on Saturday afternoon. The central defender, who has always been in the starting line-up for the German club this season, scored the only goal against FC Augsburg. Just before half time, he towered above everything and everyone to head in a free kick from Nadiem Amiri: 1-0.

Amiri himself had the opportunity to double the score a few minutes later when Mainz were awarded a penalty after a foul on former PSV player Phillipp Mwene. However, his effort hit the post. Still, Mainz won against Jeffrey Gouweleeuw's team, who also ended up with ten men due to a red card for Mads Pedersen.
