Paris Saint-Germain booked a victory in the Ligue 1 on Saturday afternoon. The star ensemble of coach Christophe Galtier was 1-0 too strong for Stade Brest. The home team had the greatest opportunities, but in hindsight still managed to get away after Gianluigi Donnarumma saved a penalty from Islam Slimani. The home team slowed down in the second act to save energy in view of the busy schedule of the coming period.
PSG started with Donnarumma, Sergio Ramos, Achraf Hakimi, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar at full strength against Stade Brestois. Les Parisiens won 2-1 against Juventus in the Champions League last Tuesday and will most likely give the defining players a rest next week against Maccabi Haifa. At Stade Brest, Marco Bizot could count on a basic place.

The home team attacked the former AZ goalkeeper’s goal early in the game, but were not efficient enough in the final round. After more than half an hour, Neymar was served with a good cross ball from Messi, but the Brazilian was knocked down hard by Christophe Hérelle of Stade Brest, who received a red card from referee Jeremie Pignard. However, the VAR put a stop to that, because Neymar was offside during the attack. Stade Brest was therefore allowed to continue with eleven men.

Two minutes later it was again the tandem Messi-Neymar who became dangerous and this time with success. The Argentinian saw Neymar’s running action, who then took the long ball well and shot hard past Bizot into the long corner: 1-0. PSG were the dominant party in the first half, but were unable to expand the lead. Halfway through the second half, Islam Slimani had the chance to equalize. Stade Brest was awarded a penalty after Presnel Kimpembe took down defender Noah Fadiga. Donnarumma saved Slimani’s penalty, giving his team the three points.
