Borussia Dortmund is going to put Donyell Malen in the shop window. According to BILD the Dutchman must bring in around 40 to 50 million euros and thus remove the financial concerns of BVB.

Borussia Dortmund is not in good financial shape and so the club is looking at ways to collect money. One of the options is to sell Malen, who is having an excellent season.

Malen has already scored twelve goals and three assists in all competitions this year and has an excellent residual value with his ongoing contract until mid-2026. The transfer fee could possibly increase in the event of a successful European Championship next summer.

Although Dortmund seems to want to continue with Malen, the Dutch international seems to have his sights set on leaving. Sporting director Sebastian Kehl is willing to cooperate, provided the desired transfer fee is met.

Due to the disappointing season – Edin Terzic's team is fourth, twenty points behind leader Bayer Leverkusen – Dortmund has to look for other ways to raise money.

Besides the fact that the club is still hoping for the necessary millions from the Champions League this season – Dortmund will play the return against PSV in two weeks – fourth place is sacred. Fifth place does not entitle you to participate in the Billion Ball.

Record transfers

Dortmund has managed to raise a lot of money with outgoing transfers in recent years. For example, last summer the club raked in more than 100 million euros with the sale of Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid.

Jadon Sancho (to Manchester United for 85 million euros in 2021) and Erling Braut Haaland (to Manchester City in 2022 for 60 million euros) are also among the record sales. Ousmane Dembélé is still the record transfer. He earned no less than 135 million euros in the summer of 2017 with his transfer to FC Barcelona.
